New Zealand reports 1 new case of COVID-19

WELLINGTON, May 16 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand reported one new case of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The one new case of COVID-19 was a recent returnee in managed isolation, while there was no new case of COVID-19 to report in the wider New Zealand community since the ministry's last update on Friday.

Meanwhile, regular wastewater COVID-19 testing scheme across New Zealand reported weak positive results in capital city Wellington, according to the ministry.

To help rule out undetected COVID-19 infection, the Ministry of Health is encouraging anyone with symptoms, especially those in the Wellington region to get tested promptly.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases of COVID-19 detected at the New Zealand border was one, said the ministry.

The total number of active cases in New Zealand was 19, and the total number of confirmed cases reached 2,290, it said.

The total number of tests processed by New Zealand laboratories to date reached 2,080,353, the ministry added.
